ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Below are some questions you may have asked yourself already or if not you may wish to think about.
ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
- What experience does the photographer have? Have they shot a wedding before.
- Is the photographer a member of a photography organisation? (e.g. the RPS - Royal Photographic Society, SWPP - Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers) Both the RPS and SWPP are well regarded in the photographic industry.
- Does the photographer have an up-to-date CRB check in place? Especially important when photographing children.
- Does the photographer have public liability and professional indemnity insurance? A professional photographer should have both for the benefit of everyone attending your wedding.
- Do you feel you can 'get on' with your photographer? It is very important for there to be a good relationship between the photographer and the bride & groom. This shows in the photos.
- Is the person you meet actually the person who will attend and photograph your wedding? Different photographers working for the same company don't necessarily have the same experience and skill.
- Would you like traditional and formal, modern and contemporary or a different style of photography? Your photographs are very personal so knowing a style is an important consideration.
- How much coverage would you like? Would you like bridal morning prep (as the groom will not normally see any of the build up to the big day - morning prep is important as part of a 'storybook' style of photography). Do you simply want coverage of your ceremony and wedding breakfast or are you looking for full day coverage to get the most memories from your big day.
- Will there be an family or friends at your wedding that you haven't seen for a long time and therefore photos of you with them are very important? Sometimes weddings are one of a few occasions when all of your family will be in the same place at the same time.
- Is there anybody who shouldn't be in the same photo together? A very important consideration. If the photographer knows of any potentially difficult situations in advance it helps to minimise any possible conflicts during your wedding.
- How would you like your photos to be presented after your big day? Do you wish to have a modern photobook, traditional photo album, parents/grandparents albums, or simply a high-resolution CD for you to choose your own products.
