Wedding Photography FAQs
There are many things to consider when choosing a wedding photographer. Below is a selection of questions you may have asked yourself already but if not you may wish to think about.
ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
How many weddings have they photographed before?
The SWPP (Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers) is a trade organisation in which members adhere to set standards of professionalism and service. Naturally we are members of the SWPP.
Not a necessity but worthwhile asking for especially when photographing children.
A professional photographer should have both for the benefit of everyone attending your wedding.
It is very important for there to be a good rapport between the photographer and the bride & groom. This rapport shows in the photos.
Different photographers working for the same company don't necessarily have the same experience and skill. Choosing a wedding photographer is an emotive decision and it’s important to know if the person you meet to discuss your wedding with will also be the person who will photograph your big day.
ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY
Your photographs are very personal so having an idea of the style of photography you'd like, whether it be modern and contemporary or a little more traditional, is a key consideration.
Would you like bridal morning prep (as the groom will not normally see any of the build up to the big day - morning prep is important as part of a 'storybook' style of photography). Do you simply want coverage of your ceremony and wedding breakfast or are you looking for full day coverage to get the most memories from your big day.
Sometimes weddings are one of the few occasions when all of your family will be in the same place at the same time therefore is it important to have pictures of all the family together?
A very important consideration. If the photographer knows of any potentially difficult situations in advance it helps to minimise any possible awkward situations during your wedding day.
Do you wish to have a modern photobook, traditional photo album, parents/grandparents albums, or simply a high-resolution CD for you to choose your own products.
We hope the above gives you some 'food for thought'. Please use it as a guide only. It is based on our previous experience and you may have other considerations which are equally important.
We are booked up very quickly and in most cases at least 12 months before the big day so contact us ASAP to arrange your wedding meeting at our Salisbury studio.
